galleri is a curatorial project established by Matthew Douglas in 2011 from his studio at the island in central Bristol. The opening project PEER PRESSURE featured work by Jason Brown, Sinaed Breslin and the curator. This initial venue also hosted a showcase of works on paper by Michelle Trepka as a support to a nearby installation GREEK RESTAURANT at 18 christmas steps. Later a larger venue at the island was required to accommodate THE TRIAL a group show featuring Marcus Fitzgibbon, Anwyl Cooper Willis and Bernard Fairhurst. This was followed by the first solo show from Jason Brown RECEIVER. In spring 2012 a new venue the granary was established at Gernos Farm, Wales, that hosted VAPOUR TRAILS a body of work from Matthew Douglas. An additional 15 acre outdoor site garden wood provides a space for outdoor projects, initiated by James Armstrong's HEAVY EARTH galleri supports the practices of featured artists through a program of site specific projects and critical dialogue. Matthew Douglas is a fine artist and curator, he was born in 1983 in Oxford. He represents the UK in the STATE: artists collective and currently lives and works in Ceredigion Wales.
